Bahasatype is an Indonesian type foundry specialized in multilingual typography. We design type across languages and writing systems, deeply informed by the rich and diverse typographic landscape of the Indonesian archipelago. Working within a context where multiple scripts—from Latin and Arabic to traditional local scripts—naturally coexist, we approach type design as a bridge between cultural heritage and global digital standards.
Our practice combines commercial type design, script research, and technical development. We work on custom typefaces, multilingual systems, and script engineering, carefully balancing Indonesian craftsmanship with contemporary production needs.

المؤسس
Abdurrahman Hanif started with a background in publishing, where he discovered his interest in typography. When not obsessing over glyph terminals, he can be found running through the streets of North Jakarta or exploring the complex language systems that led him into type design.
He went on to work as an independent type specialist for international foundries. With a strong focus on Arabic script and extensive experience working with complex writing systems, he later founded Bahasatype to bring Indonesian type design excellence to the world stage.
