Got a question? We’ve got answers. Here are the most common things people ask us, adapted for our simplified licensing model.
Free Fonts & Personal Use
We offer Trial Fonts for testing, but we don’t put them up for public download.
- Request: Go to any font family page and click the “Request Trial” button. Fill out the short form, and we’ll send the files to your email.
- Why? We want to know who is using our fonts and keep in touch!
- Important: Trial fonts have restricted embedding. Please convert text to outlines when sending proofs to clients.
However, you cannot use them for any commercial project where you get paid, or on a live public website/app. If your client approves the design, you (or they) need to buy a license.
Personal use means any project that is not related to business or monetary gain.
- Not Allowed: Freelance work, business branding, or any project for a company.
- Allowed: Student projects, personal social media sketches, non-profit charity designs (pro-bono).
Licensing Inquiries
No! At Bahasatype, we keep it simple. Our Standard License covers BOTH Desktop and Web usage.
- You just need to select the tier that fits your size (e.g., “Up to 3 Users & 10k Pageviews”).
- This means you don’t have to worry about buying a separate web license later.
The license holder should be the one using the font software.
- If you are a freelancer designing a logo for a client: You need a license to create the work. If the client also wants to install the font to edit the text or use it on their website, they also need a license.
- If you are a studio/agency: You can buy the license on behalf of your client. During checkout, you can enter the client’s information so the license is issued in their name.
Yes! We support education.
- Students & Teachers: Get 50% OFF the Standard License.
- Just email us a copy of your Student ID or Academic verification to info@bahasatype.com and we’ll send you a coupon code.
Don’t worry, the font won’t stop working. But you are legally obliged to upgrade your license.
- Simply purchase the upgrade to the next tier (e.g., moving from Tier 1 to Tier 2).
- Contact us at info@bahasatype.com if you need help calculating the upgrade cost.
- Printer: It is better to send them an “outlined” PDF or create a package where the fonts are embedded (read-only). If they need to edit the text, they likely need their own license.
- Developer: If they are building your website/app, they can use the font files solely for your project. They cannot use them for other clients.
Technical & Installation
When you purchase a Standard License, you get the complete package:
- Desktop:
.otf(OpenType) and.ttf(TrueType). - Web:
.woffand.woff2(Web Open Font Format) for faster loading.
- Mac: Double-click the font file and click “Install”.
- Windows: Right-click the font file and select “Install”.
- Tip: Restart your design apps (Illustrator, Figma, etc.) after installing.
- Restart: Seriously, restart the app.
- Check the Name: Sometimes the font appears under “Bahasatype” or the specific Family Name.
- Cache: If it’s still stuck, your system font cache might be corrupted.
- Mac: Use a tool like Atsue or simply restart in Safe Mode (hold Shift during boot) to clear caches.
- Windows: Delete the
FNTCACHE.DATfile inC:\Windows\System32and restart.
You use standard CSS @font-face rules. The .woff2 files we provide are optimized for this.
@font-face {
font-family: 'Bahasatype Font';
src: url('fontname.woff2') format('woff2');
font-weight: normal;
font-style: normal;
}Payments & Refunds
We process payments securely via PayPal. You can use your PayPal balance or a connected credit/debit card.
Since fonts are digital files, all sales are final.
- Exception: If the font file is technically defective and we can’t fix it, we will issue a refund.
- Wrong Style: If you bought “Bold” but wanted “Regular”, email us before you download the files, and we might be able to swap it.
